Senior Operations Tax Specialist

About the role

The Senior Operations Tax Specialist will join Fidelity Clearing Canada’s Operations Tax team, working on a flexible hybrid schedule. The role focuses on Canadian and US tax reporting, compliance, and client‑focused processes while ensuring adherence to regulatory deadlines.

Key responsibilities

• Manage and oversee accurate completion of all Canadian and US tax reporting, including T5/R3, T3/R16, T5013/R15, T5008, NR4, T4RSP, T4RIF, 1099‑INT, 1099‑DIV, 1099‑B, 1042‑S, Form 1042 and Form 945.
• Coordinate client‑critical year‑end processes and ensure timely delivery of tax slips.
• Handle contribution and estate receipt processing.
• Manage QI obligations and FATCA/CRS reporting for all clients.
• Perform document reviews for QI, NR and RC forms as needed.
• Maintain satisfactory internal and external audit, regulatory and risk ratings.
• Identify financial and regulatory issues, reconcile tax accounts, and stay current with evolving tax regulations.
• Support documentation updates, project participation, and cross‑functional initiatives.

Required profile

• Current Canadian work authorization.
• Senior‑level experience in tax reporting and compliance, preferably within a financial services or clearing environment.
• Strong knowledge of Canadian and US tax forms and filing requirements.
• Ability to collaborate with internal stakeholders and communicate effectively with clients and tax authorities.
• Proven track record of meeting regulatory deadlines and managing audit processes.
