Senior Mechanical Engineer

About the role

Senior Mechanical Engineer needed to lead mechanical and piping design for oil & gas and heavy industrial projects in Edmonton. The role covers the full project lifecycle from concept through commissioning, offering hands‑on engineering in a collaborative, fast‑paced environment.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and support mechanical and piping design for oil & gas and heavy industrial projects.
• Develop and review P&IDs and mechanical design deliverables.
• Perform equipment sizing and specification for pumps, vessels, heat exchangers and other mechanical systems.
• Support piping design, including material selection, layout input and coordination with stress and design teams.
• Prepare engineering deliverables such as datasheets, equipment specifications, line lists and construction work packages.
• Review vendor documents and support procurement activities.
• Provide field support during construction, commissioning and system start‑up.
• Participate in design reviews and constructability assessments.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including process, electrical and project management.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline.
• P.Eng. designation (APEGA) required.
• 10+ years of consulting engineering experience in oil & gas or heavy industrial environments.
• Strong experience with pressure equipment and piping systems.
• Familiarity with applicable codes and standards (e.g., ASME, CSA).
• Experience supporting projects across design, procurement and construction phases.
• Ability to work independently and manage project scopes with minimal oversight.
• Strong communication and coordination skills.
