Senior Manager, Tax

About the role

The Senior Manager, Tax will lead the tax function for a global mining organization headquartered in Vancouver. Reporting to the VP, Tax, this hands‑on position provides technical expertise across Canadian and international tax matters, supporting the company’s growth and operational activities.

Key responsibilities

• Lead preparation and review of Canadian and international corporate tax returns and related filings.
• Manage quarterly and annual tax provisions for current and deferred income tax under IFRS.
• Coordinate transfer‑pricing analyses, calculations and documentation.
• Support planning initiatives, financing structures and cross‑border transactions.
• Lead cross‑border tax projects, including surplus calculations, withholding tax and treaty applications.
• Monitor legislative changes in Canada and abroad, assess impact and provide recommendations.
• Respond to tax authority inquiries and oversee audit or dispute resolution.
• Partner with internal finance teams to ensure accurate tax reporting and integration into business decisions.
• Coordinate with external advisors and auditors for timely completion of tax matters.

Required profile

• Minimum 7 years of progressive tax experience with a focus on Canadian and international tax.
• Experience in corporate tax compliance, reporting and advisory.
• Hands‑on experience preparing tax provisions under IFRS.
• Proven ability to manage relationships with external advisors and tax authorities.
• Strong analytical, problem‑solving and communication skills.
