Senior Manager, Tax

About the role

Join MNP’s dynamic Tax team as a Senior Manager and act as a trusted advisor to a diverse portfolio of clients. You will design and deliver customized tax strategies that meet compliance requirements, minimize risk, and maximize returns within Canada’s complex regulatory environment.

Key responsibilities

• Lead multiple client‑facing engagement teams to complete tax engagements and prepare tax returns and related compliance filings.
• Provide industry and technical tax expertise through client interactions, reports, technical work, and high‑quality deliverables.
• Evaluate existing business processes, advise on policy and tax changes, and develop proactive tax strategies.
• Liaise with the Canada Revenue Agency and provincial ministries on client issues.
• Prepare election forms for corporate reorganizations and assist with personal and trust tax compliance seasons.
• Manage a client portfolio, understand business risks, and deliver added value to grow relationships.
• Oversee engagement planning, budgeting, billing, collection, and variance recognition.
• Maintain high quality control, anticipate issues, and apply specialized tax knowledge.
• Network locally, identify business development opportunities, and contribute to proposal preparation.
• Mentor and coach team members, providing performance feedback and development guidance.

Required profile

• CPA designation.
• Completion of the In‑Depth Tax Program and other specialist development courses.
• 7–8 years of relevant public accounting or tax consulting experience.
• Extensive working knowledge of Canadian tax legislation and compliance.
• Strong understanding of business operations and risk management.
