Senior IT Project Manager – Remote (Canada)

About the role

The Government of Alberta is looking for an experienced Senior IT Project Manager to lead multiple high‑priority technology initiatives. This remote position will coordinate enterprise‑wide projects, engage stakeholders, and ensure smooth operational transitions.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and manage several concurrent IT projects from initiation through closure.
• Define project scope, objectives, timelines, deliverables and resource needs.
• Develop and maintain project charters, business cases, status reports, risk logs, dashboards and closure documents.
• Coordinate schedules, governance activities and vendor deliverables.
• Facilitate stakeholder engagement sessions and executive‑level meetings.
• Monitor risks, issues, dependencies and implement mitigation strategies.
• Collaborate with business and IT leadership to align outcomes with organizational goals.
• Support procurement, vendor onboarding, change management and communication planning.
• Prepare executive reporting and steering‑committee presentations.
• Utilise AI‑enabled tools to improve reporting efficiency.

Required profile

• University degree in Business, Management or related field with 4+ years of project‑management experience, OR equivalent diploma/certificate with additional years, OR 8+ years of direct project‑management experience.
• 6+ years defining project scope and goals with business stakeholders.
• 8+ years developing project deliverables and documentation.
• 8+ years managing multiple concurrent projects.
• 6+ years delivering large, complex custom software development projects in enterprise environments.
