Senior Financial Planner

About the role

Common Wealth, a group retirement provider serving over 1,800 employers across Canada, is hiring a Senior Financial Planner. This is not a product-selling role: you will join a fast-growing team that changes how Canadians plan and make financial decisions, delivering empathetic, actionable advice and education. You will work directly with plan members, help build the practice and mentor junior Financial Planners.

Key responsibilities

• Scale the financial planning function with the Head of Finance and Strategy and the Financial Planning team, supporting a differentiated member service model.
• Build and review comprehensive financial plans for members, focusing on retirement readiness and retirement income planning, using digital tools to model scenarios and give clear recommendations.
• Deliver personalized plans in a digital-first environment while keeping a high-touch, human experience.
• Help develop and deliver financial education, including webinars, articles and other digital content, and collaborate with Marketing, Product and Sales.
• Mentor junior Financial Planners and contribute ideas as the function grows.

Required profile

• Certified Financial Planner (CFP) designation.
• Experience providing holistic financial planning to individuals.
• Strong communicator and educator, able to present virtually and write articles or guides.
• Comfortable in a digital-first environment and eager to experiment with AI and emerging tools.

Nice to have

• Group retirement or benefits industry experience.
• Experience with Conquest financial planning software.
• Experience as an advice-only financial planner.
• Fluency in French.

• Salary of $100,000 - $120,000.
