Financial Analyst - Fractional Controllership

About the role

ConnectCPA, an online, virtual CPA firm, is hiring a Financial Analyst to join its team of Controllers who partner with small and medium-sized businesses. The role combines controllership and FP&A responsibilities while maintaining strong client relationships. It is fully remote and open to candidates across Canada.

Key responsibilities

• Manage a portfolio of clients and provide ongoing fractional controllership services
• Oversee the month-end close and financial reporting for key clients
• Review financial statements and identify trends through variance and financial analysis
• Support budgeting, forecasting and other FP&A initiatives
• Develop and improve accounting workflows, controls and reporting processes
• Create industry-specific metrics to monitor financial performance
• Prepare client-specific internal reporting and financial insights
• Collaborate with bookkeeping and tax teams and lead client meetings

Required profile

• CPA designation (preferred) or MBA with strong accounting and finance experience
• 3+ years of FP&A, controllership or other progressive accounting/finance experience
• Strong understanding of bookkeeping and month-end close processes
• Proactive, self-starting and able to work independently remotely
• Strong communicator and organized, able to handle multiple clients

Required skills

• Familiarity with cloud accounting platforms and Microsoft Excel
• Experience with Xero, QuickBooks Online, Hubdoc and Dext is a plus
• Task tracking tools such as Karbon, ClickUp, Monday or Asana
• At least 6Mbps internet connection
