Senior Engineer – Optical C++ Development

About the role

Tech Mahindra is seeking a Senior Engineer to join its remote team in Canada. The role focuses on developing new features for optical L0 systems, working closely with hardware and firmware teams to bring up and enhance optical boards such as ROADMs, amplifiers, RAMAN, and OTDR.

Key responsibilities

• Design and implement new software features for optical control loops at the card and system level.
• Bring up and validate optical boards (ROADMs, amplifiers, RAMAN, OTDR) in both lab and production environments.
• Collaborate with firmware and hardware engineers to define and drive firmware specifications.
• Develop and maintain multi‑threaded C++ codebases that scale across large optical networks.
• Integrate AI‑assisted development tools (e.g., Cursor AI, Claude Code) to improve productivity and code quality.

Required profile

• Minimum 5 years of professional software engineering experience.
• Proven track record in C++ development, especially with multi‑threaded system design.
• Hands‑on experience with optical control architectures (VOAs, OCMs, ROADM, amplifier control).
• Experience collaborating with firmware and hardware teams on specification and integration.
• Familiarity with AI‑assisted coding tools and modern development toolchains.
