Senior Electrical Engineer – Wireless Ultrasound Device
flosonicsmedical · Toronto
Description du poste
About the role
Flosonics Medical is looking for an experienced, hands-on Senior Electrical Engineer to join its engineering team in Toronto. The role leads electrical design from concept through validation for the next generation of the FloPatch platform, a wireless Doppler ultrasound system for critically ill patients. It is a hybrid position reporting to the engineering team and working closely with mechanical engineering, manufacturing and product development.
Key responsibilities
- Lead the electrical architecture of a wireless, battery-operated wearable ultrasound device, including high-sensitivity analog transceiver and low-power microcontroller integration with standard protocols (I2C, SPI, BLE, UART).
- Lead schematic capture and PCB layout in Altium Designer, with a focus on design for manufacturability (DFM) and BOM management.
- Characterize the ultrasound analog front-end and end-to-end performance, including noise floor and signal-to-noise ratio.
- Integrate electronics with mechanical enclosures and ultrasound transducers, and run bench-level electrical validation using oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers and network analyzers.
- Optimize the power budget across MCU, sensors, PMIC and LiPo battery.
- Drive hardware prototyping, board bring-up and root-cause analysis, and collaborate with the firmware team on driver validation.
- Lead design transfer to manufacturing and design test jigs for R&D and automated production.
- Support V&V under ISO 13485, including hardware test plans and IEC 60601 compliance documentation.
Required profile
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent.
- 10+ years of experience in electronics design, hardware integration, testing, documentation and V&V.
- Experience designing medical devices under design controls and ISO 13485, and knowledge of IEC 60601-1.
- Ability to mentor junior engineers and work autonomously in a diverse team.
Required skills
- Analog circuit design, simulation and component characterization.
- Altium Designer for schematics, PCB layout and design output.
- Oscilloscopes, vector network analyzers and spectrum analyzers.
- DFM and DFT methodologies.
- Sensor, ADC, microcontroller and SoC integration in low-power battery devices.
The expected salary range is $100,000 to $140,000 CAD per year, depending on experience, skills and internal equity. Only shortlisted candidates will be contacted.
