EHS Manager

About the role

The EHS Manager supports the VWTS Oakville business (about 600 employees) with all environmental, health and safety aspects of the Veolia facility in Oakville, Ontario. The site is a key engineering, manufacturing and distribution hub for Municipal & Industrial Water Solutions, which designs, fabricates and services water treatment, wastewater treatment and chemical feed systems for clients across North America.

Key responsibilities

• Manage EHS employee engagement and lead programs that instill a safety-first mindset, ensuring compliance
• Analyze data to assess health and safety risks proactively, and monitor and document EHS activities and corrective action plans
• Lead the integration of EHS policies, programs and practices into the business, and ensure employee and contractor training is completed, documented and maintained
• Drive compliance with federal, state, local and corporate EHS laws, regulations, policies and guidelines, and keep up to date with proposed regulations
• Support the Management of Change program through business reviews and safety inspections

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution, preferably in Occupational Health and Safety, Chemistry, Industrial Engineering or Environmental Science
• At least 7 years of EHS management experience at a manufacturing facility
• Experience implementing EHS programs and achieving measurable goals, with both exempt and non-exempt employees
• Experience working with local, state and federal regulatory agencies, including environmental applications and renewals
• Prior experience in business continuity planning and incident management
• Preferred: Certified Safety Professional
