Senior Electrical Engineer

About the role

CBCL Limited is seeking a Senior Electrical Engineer to lead high‑voltage infrastructure projects within its Electrical Utilities & Renewables team. The role can be based in Saint John or other Atlantic Canada offices and involves managing complex design and consulting assignments for substations, transmission, distribution and renewable energy developments.

Key responsibilities

• Act as Project Manager and Technical Lead on multidisciplinary projects from feasibility through detailed design and implementation.
• Mentor junior engineers and technologists, fostering professional growth and innovation.
• Oversee preparation of technical reports, design drawings, specifications, tender documents and cost estimates.
• Ensure designs comply with safety standards, Canadian Electrical Code, CSA standards and industry best practices.
• Support business development through client relationship management and proposal preparation.
• Provide on‑site expertise, conduct site reviews and supervise construction activities.

Required profile

• Degree in Electrical Engineering and eligibility for P.Eng. registration in the relevant province.
• Minimum 10 years of electrical engineering and project management experience.
• Strong organizational, time‑management and communication skills.
• Valid driver’s licence and willingness to travel occasionally.

Required skills

• Electrical power system design (medium‑ and high‑voltage distribution, protection & controls, grounding).
• SCADA and telecommunications integration.
• Proficiency with design and modeling software: AutoCAD, PLS‑CADD, Revit, SKM, ETAP, CYME, PSCAD, PSS/E, WinIGS.
• Power system analysis: load flow, short‑circuit, protection coordination, arc‑flash studies.
