Senior Electrical Engineer – Industrial Power Distribution

About the role

Our client, a multidisciplinary engineering consultancy serving Western Canada, is looking for a Senior Electrical Engineer to join their Burnaby office. You will lead electrical engineering scopes on industrial projects, delivering power distribution solutions for mining, energy, and heavy‑industrial facilities.

Key responsibilities

• Lead design of low‑ and medium‑voltage power distribution systems for brownfield upgrades, sustaining capital, and greenfield developments.
• Perform load flow, short‑circuit, voltage‑drop, and equipment‑sizing studies.
• Prepare single‑line diagrams, electrical layouts, specifications, and technical reports.
• Size and route cables, develop MCC and switchgear packages, and select transformers, VFDs, and motors.
• Coordinate with mechanical, process, piping, civil, structural, and instrumentation disciplines.
• Participate in design reviews, HAZOPs, constructability reviews, and support procurement activities.
• Provide field support during construction, commissioning, and start‑up, and maintain client relationships.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering.
• P.Eng. designation in British Columbia or eligibility for immediate registration.
• 10+ years of consulting experience with industrial power distribution systems.
• Experience in mining, oil & gas, LNG, or similar heavy‑industrial projects.
• Strong communication skills and ability to work independently.
