Senior Counsel – Wealth Litigation

About the role

TD Legal is seeking a Senior Counsel to join its Wealth Litigation team in Toronto. This senior specialist role provides strategic and tactical legal advice on a broad portfolio of litigation and regulatory matters, supporting both the Legal Department and business units across the enterprise.

Key responsibilities

• Manage external counsel throughout all levels of court litigation in Canada and develop resolution strategies.
• Identify key legal risks, propose mitigation strategies, and communicate them to relevant stakeholders.
• Deliver best‑in‑class litigation advice aligned with business objectives and enterprise‑wide risk policies.
• Advise on contractual interpretation, drafting, pre‑litigation dispute resolution, and litigation risk analysis.
• Support internal investigations and provide legal guidance to various TD teams.
• Oversee a portfolio of regulatory matters and contribute to special projects.

Required profile

• Senior‑level legal professional with extensive experience in wealth litigation.
• Proven ability to manage external counsel and lead complex litigation matters.
• Strong understanding of Canadian regulatory frameworks affecting wealth services.
• Excellent communication skills to influence and advise senior business leaders.
