Senior Aeronautical Structural Engineer – Aircraft Design & Certification

About the role

ITPS Canada is looking for an experienced Senior Aeronautical Structural Engineer to lead the design, modification and certification of special‑mission aircraft and airborne systems. You will work on both type‑certified and limited‑category platforms, collaborating with multidisciplinary teams, regulatory bodies and flight operations to ensure safety and airworthiness.

Key responsibilities

• Lead structural design and modification activities for fixed‑wing and rotary‑wing special‑mission aircraft.
• Develop engineering solutions, drawings and compliance evidence for certification.
• Prepare and submit certification documentation, test plans and Means of Compliance to TCCA, FAA and EASA.
• Manage configuration‑controlled engineering data using SolidWorks, PDM, ECR/ECO processes.
• Coordinate with manufacturing, avionics, flight test and operations teams to support sustainment.
• Mentor junior engineers and contribute to continuous improvement of engineering processes.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Aerospace, Mechanical or related engineering.
• Minimum 6 years of experience in aircraft structural design, modification and certification.
• Direct experience with Transport Canada certification projects and Means of Compliance development.
• Proven project management skills and ability to handle multiple concurrent engineering activities.
• Experience mentoring junior engineers and leading technical reviews.

Required skills

• SolidWorks and PDM environments.
• Engineering change management (ECR/ECO).
• Finite element analysis tools: ANSYS, NASTRAN, Patran, Femap.
• Stress, fatigue and damage‑tolerance analysis.
• Technical writing and documentation for certification.
