Senior Accountant, Tax

About the role

MNP is seeking a Senior Accountant to join its dynamic Tax team. You will act as a trusted advisor, delivering customized tax strategies for public and private clients while navigating complex regulatory frameworks.

Key responsibilities

• Complete tax outsourcing engagements for public and private companies under IFRS, US GAAP, and ASPE.
• Prepare corporate and personal tax returns, year‑end tax forms (T4, T5, NR4) and compute taxes owed.
• Develop and apply knowledge of the Canadian Income Tax Act and related legislation.
• Communicate with clients and government agencies to resolve compliance issues.
• Collaborate with the tax team to design and implement tax planning and minimisation strategies.
• Contribute ideas to improve work processes and support business development initiatives.
• Set up files for new clients, assist with basic tax reorganisations, and maintain flexibility to travel as needed.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in commerce or business administration, preferably with an accounting or finance major.
• Working towards or holding a CPA designation, including completion of the CFE exam.
• 1‑3 years of public accounting or tax experience.
• Experience preparing domestic tax compliance and researching tax issues.

Required skills

• Knowledge of IFRS, US GAAP, ASPE.
• Familiarity with the Canadian Income Tax Act.
• Proficiency with tax and accounting software such as Caseware, TaxCycle, QuickBooks and Simply Accounting.
