Senior Accountant

About the role

We are seeking a Senior Accountant to join a growing Ontario‑based business. Reporting directly to the CEO, you will have high visibility and influence across accounting, finance, operations, and strategic planning.

Key responsibilities

• Lead month‑end and year‑end close activities.
• Prepare and review financial statements, cash‑flow reports, budgets, and forecasts.
• Analyze financial performance and advise on business decisions.
• Oversee day‑to‑day accounting operations, including AP, AR, reconciliations, and payroll oversight.
• Support budgeting, forecasting, variance analysis, and long‑term financial planning.
• Coordinate external audits and ensure compliance with accounting standards.
• Develop and strengthen internal controls, policies, and financial processes.
• Drive process‑improvement and digital‑transformation initiatives.
• Partner with senior leadership on strategic projects and operational decision‑making.
• Mentor junior accounting team members.

Required profile

• CPA designation (or near completion) preferred.
• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
• 5+ years of progressive accounting experience in a small to mid‑sized organization.
• Strong experience preparing financial statements and managing the full accounting cycle.
• Experience with budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis.
• Ability to identify process‑improvement opportunities and drive operational efficiencies.
• Excellent communication and collaborative leadership style.
