Senior Accountant

About the role

Brookfield Renewable is seeking a Senior Accountant to join its Business Services Group. The role is responsible for managing the full monthly accounting cycle, delivering accurate financial closes on tight deadlines, and collaborating with internal finance teams and stakeholders.

Key responsibilities

• Own assigned companies as the primary accounting contact and build strong internal relationships.
• Participate in forecasting and budgeting, performing complex variance analysis on key accounts.
• Supervise and coach a team of accountants to improve the financial close process.
• Prepare analysis for complex accounting issues and present findings to the Accounting group and stakeholders.
• Prepare and analyze quarterly reporting packages, including variance analysis and cash flow statements.
• Review journal entries and account reconciliations to ensure timely, accurate monthly closes.
• Manage PPE additions/disposals and maintain CWIP and fixed‑asset schedules.
• Maintain monthly general‑ledger reconciliations to sub‑ledgers.
• Provide quarterly and year‑end audit support.
• Drive process‑improvement initiatives focused on automation, streamlining, and SOX 404 internal controls.

Required profile

• Extensive experience in full‑cycle accounting and month‑end close.
• Proven ability to supervise and develop junior accounting staff.
• Strong analytical skills for budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis.
• Experience supporting audits and implementing SOX 404 controls.
• Ability to communicate complex accounting issues clearly to diverse stakeholders.
