Senior Accountant

About the role

Our client, an insurance brokerage firm, is seeking a Senior Accountant to lead general accounting, financial and management reporting, budgeting and audit liaison. The role supports the CFO on special projects and corporate initiatives while ensuring accurate financial statements for the parent company and its subsidiaries.

Key responsibilities

• Record business transactions, process accruals, adjustments and reconcile accounts.
• Prepare monthly accounting statements, EFT files and bank reconciliations for the Premium Financing division.
• Full‑cycle accounting and financial reporting for a subsidiary using QuickBooks Online, including cash projections and insurance payables.
• Prepare financial statements, management reports and Trust Position reports for the parent company.
• Assist with year‑end financial statements, audit working papers and premium financing margin calculations.
• Oversee monthly revenue and statistical reporting such as receivables summaries, flash reports, revenue analysis and premium financing reports.
• Coordinate annual revenue budgets, design and integrate them into Microsoft Access, and support budget consolidation.
• Liaise with external auditors, provide working papers, and help develop accounting policies, workflows and internal controls.
• Back‑up the Accounting Manager, Premium Finance Administrator and Claims & Financial Analyst as needed.

Required profile

• Near‑completion or completed CPA designation; RIBO license or CIP considered an asset.
• Strong knowledge of Canadian accounting standards and insurance industry practices.
• Ability to prepare federal and provincial tax returns (HST, RST) and support audit processes.
• Excellent analytical, communication and organizational skills.
