Senior Accountant

About the role

An established global organization in the insurance and financial services sector is looking for a Senior Accountant to join its Financial Reporting team in Toronto. The role focuses on end‑to‑end preparation of US GAAP financial statements and supports a major finance transformation from PeopleSoft to Oracle.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare quarterly and annual US GAAP financial statements, cash flow statements, and shareholder equity reports.
• Support month‑end and quarter‑end close activities, including journal entries, reconciliations, and analysis.
• Collaborate with Accounting, Actuarial, Treasury, and Finance teams to gather and validate reporting inputs.
• Investigate variances, ensure reporting accuracy, and challenge data as needed.
• Assist with audit requests, internal controls, and compliance activities.
• Contribute to finance transformation initiatives and process improvements related to system changes.

Required profile

• 3+ years of post‑qualification accounting experience in insurance, re‑insurance, or financial services.
• CPA designation or equivalent professional accounting qualification.
• Strong hands‑on experience preparing and analyzing US GAAP financial statements.
• Experience with statutory, management, or regulatory reporting in a controlled environment.
• Excellent communication skills and ability to interact with senior stakeholders.
