Senior Accountant – Global Maritime & Logistics

About the role

This senior accountant position supports a complex, multi-entity maritime and logistics operation in Canada. The role ensures accurate financial reporting, robust month-end close, and compliance with ASPE and IFRS, while collaborating with finance, operations and commercial teams.

Key responsibilities

• Manage month-end close for assigned entities, delivering timely and compliant financial statements.
• Prepare and review consolidated results, statutory reports and equity income from joint-venture arrangements.
• Maintain and reconcile general-ledger accounts, including accruals, overhead, operating expenses, fuel and trade-related costs.
• Support year-end audit activities, preparing schedules, documentation and technical accounting papers.
• Ensure accurate system integration and reconciliation across Oracle, IMOS and Concur platforms.
• Maintain insurance claims accounting records and ensure audit-ready documentation.
• Drive process improvements, internal-control enhancements and efficiency initiatives.
• Produce ad-hoc financial reports and analyses for operational and strategic decision-making.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Business Administration or related field; CPA designation preferred.
• 5+ years of accounting experience in a large or complex organization.
• Strong knowledge of ASPE and IFRS standards.
• Proven experience with month-end close, reconciliations, statutory reporting and audit support.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving and communication skills.
