Seed Processing Supervisor

About the role

BASF Agricultural Solutions is hiring a Seed Processing Supervisor in Lethbridge, Alberta, for its Agricultural Solutions team. The position is on site and reports directly to the Clean Seed Process Manager of the Lethbridge Seed Processing Facility. The supervisor oversees the Cleaning Team Leads and their seasonal teams that clean hybrid canola seed for the InVigor market.

Key responsibilities

• Supervise all seed cleaning activities using Process Team Leads and Operators on each shift so production goals are met and protocols are followed.
• Monitor cleaning production progress and ensure the cleaning schedule is kept.
• Coordinate contract and seasonal operators, orienting and training them to work efficiently and in line with protocols and standards.
• Coach and support Team Leads and Operators, give performance feedback to the Cleaning Plant Manager, and ensure training and mentoring are effective and documented.

Required profile

• College diploma or trade certification in a related field; CFIA Operator and Grader certification is an asset.
• At least 1 to 3 years of supervisory experience.
• Ability to identify root causes of process and employee shortfalls and develop effective solutions.
• Strong coaching skills, including motivating and coordinating seasonal staff.
• Willingness to work multiple shift schedules, overtime and some weekends.

Required skills

• Experience with data entry, data management and data analysis.
• SAP software knowledge and Microsoft Office suite experience are assets.
• Effective time management and problem-solving, and the ability to manage a team in a fast-changing environment.
