Second Cook

About the role

The Delta Hotels Victoria Ocean Pointe Resort is seeking a reliable Second Cook to join its Food & Beverage team on a part‑time basis. You will work in a fast‑paced kitchen environment, preparing and cooking a variety of dishes while upholding the resort’s quality and safety standards.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare ingredients by portioning, chopping, washing, peeling, weighing and measuring.
• Cook foods according to recipes, quality and presentation standards, including hot and cold items.
• Operate kitchen equipment such as ovens, stoves, grills, microwaves and fryers.
• Test and monitor food for proper doneness and temperature.
• Set up and break down work stations, serve food in correct portions, and maintain a clean, sanitized kitchen.
• Check appliance and food temperatures, follow safety and security policies, and report any hazards.
• Maintain a professional uniform and personal appearance.
• Collaborate with team members, communicate clearly, and support a positive work environment.

Required profile

• High school diploma or G.E.D. equivalent.
• At least 1 year of related kitchen experience.
• FoodSafe Certificate (required).
• Ability to stand, walk or sit for extended periods and lift up to 25 lb without assistance.
• No supervisory experience required.

• Portioning, measuring and recipe adherence.
• Sanitation and kitchen cleaning procedures.
