Seasonal Parks General Maintenance (6-month contract)

About the role

This seasonal position supports the operation and upkeep of municipal parks, sports fields, and trails. Working outdoors in a variety of weather conditions, you will ensure facilities are safe, functional, and ready for public use throughout the summer season.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare and maintain parks, sports fields, and trails according to rental and maintenance schedules.
• Inspect, service, and repair park equipment, including grounds‑keeping tools and mechanical systems.
• Supervise summer students and part‑time staff, providing guidance and training.
• Communicate with staff, volunteers, event coordinators, and community groups regarding park usage and special events.
• Document maintenance activities, rentals, incidents, and health‑safety procedures.
• Respond to flexible work hours, including evenings and weekends, as required.

Required profile

• Secondary school education with demonstrated knowledge of grounds and facility maintenance.
• Experience in general repair work such as mechanics, plumbing, or carpentry.
• Good communication and interpersonal skills for interaction with the public and team members.
• Valid Class G driver’s licence and a clear driver’s abstract.
• Current First Aid, CPR, and AED certification.

What we offer

• Hourly rate ranging from $26.75 to $33.16
