Sales Manager – Book Publishing

About the role

The Sales Manager will lead the development and execution of sales campaigns for UBC Press titles across Canada and international markets. Reporting to the Assistant Director of Marketing and Business Development, this role combines strategic planning with hands‑on execution to drive growth in trade, academic, and special sales channels.

Key responsibilities

• Design and implement sales strategies that meet or exceed annual revenue targets.
• Research market trends, identify new opportunities, and represent UBC Press at trade and academic events.
• Collaborate with marketing teams to align sales initiatives with promotional activities.
• Oversee the Sales and Inventory Coordinator and Agency & Digital Marketing Coordinator, providing guidance and performance feedback.
• Track sales performance, prepare reports, and adjust tactics based on data insights.

Required profile

• Proven experience in book publishing or related sales environments.
• Strong understanding of trade, professional, and academic market dynamics.
• Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
• Ability to work independently and lead a small team.
