Safety Advisor – Ottawa (Seasonal)

About the role

We are seeking Safety Advisors to support field crews, contractors and client representatives in Ottawa and surrounding areas. The role involves promoting safe work practices across industrial, construction and restoration projects on a seasonal, project‑based basis.

Key responsibilities

• Assist site personnel with daily safety expectations and safe work practices.
• Conduct site safety observations, inspections and hazard assessments.
• Facilitate orientations, toolbox talks and safety meetings.
• Monitor work activities for compliance with company, client and regulatory requirements.
• Support incident, near‑miss and hazard reporting processes.
• Review safety documentation such as FLHAs, permits, JHAs and related paperwork.

Required profile

• Hold one or more safety designations (e.g., NCSO, CSO, HSOH, HSE) or equivalent experience.
• Previous experience in a Safety Advisor, HSE, CSO or similar field safety role.
• Willingness to travel and stay in remote locations as required.
• Ability to work independently and communicate clearly with crews, supervisors and clients.
• Strong attention to detail and documentation.
• Valid driver’s licence preferred.

Required skills

• NCSO, CSO, HSOH, HSE designations.
• CRST or CRSP certification (strong asset).
• First Aid certification.
• H2S Alive training.
• CSTS, Confined Space, Fall Protection, WHMIS qualifications.
