Research Assistant / Technician 2 – Baby Learning Lab

About the role

Under general supervision, you will support the day‑to‑day operations of the UBC Baby Learning Lab within the Department of Psychology. The role involves coordinating participant visits, assisting researchers, and providing technical support for neuroimaging studies.

Key responsibilities

• Recruit, schedule, and greet families participating in research projects.
• Set up, monitor, and troubleshoot neuroimaging and other laboratory equipment.
• Distribute tasks and provide training to undergraduate volunteers and research assistants.
• Track lab expenditures and assist with grant and manuscript preparation.
• Collaborate with the Lab Director, postdoctoral researchers, graduate students, and external research centres.

Required profile

• Ability to work under general supervision and follow established research protocols.
• Strong communication skills for interacting with participants and community partners.
• Organizational aptitude to manage scheduling and coordinate multiple volunteers.

Required skills

• Neuroimaging equipment operation.
• Basic technical troubleshooting.
