Research Assistant 2 – Genetic Epidemiology

About the role

Professor Claude Bhérer’s Lab at McGill University is seeking a Research Assistant 2 to support a collaborative project on complex diseases using genetic epidemiology methods. The position runs from June 22, 2026 to October 23, 2026 and involves high‑throughput data analysis and workflow development.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct polygenic risk score (PRS) construction and Mendelian randomization analyses to assess genetic contributions to disease risk.
• Develop and implement scalable scripts and reproducible analytical workflows (Python, R, Bash).
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members, interpret results, and contribute to high‑quality research outputs.
• Draft methodological reports, papers, or articles related to the project.
• Provide technical guidance and training to junior research staff and technicians.
• Perform administrative tasks associated with the project.

Required profile

• MSc in Human Genetics, Bioinformatics, Computer Science, or a related discipline.
• Strong background in human genetics, genetic epidemiology, and statistical genetics.
• Experience with large‑scale sequencing and genotyping datasets.
• Familiarity with PRS construction, Mendelian randomization, and association analyses.
• Excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to work independently.
• Fluency in English (level #4) and knowledge of French.
• Authorization to work in Canada.
