Relief Pharmacist

About the role

The Relief Pharmacist supports the Pharmacy Manager and Staff Pharmacist in delivering safe, efficient, and patient‑focused pharmacy services across Walmart locations. This role involves traveling to multiple stores, ensuring a consistent, high‑quality experience for customers, and maintaining compliance with provincial regulations.

Key responsibilities

• Accept and process prescription and refill requests from customers, doctors, and hospitals.
• Accurately fill prescriptions, counsel patients on medication use, and ensure proper storage of pharmaceutical products.
• Operate pharmacy equipment, including registers and computer systems, following established SOPs and OBWs.
• Protect patient privacy and adhere to all regulatory requirements.
• Provide eligible services such as medication reviews and injections based on patient needs.
• Develop collaborative relationships with health‑care providers within the store and the community.
• Travel to assigned locations according to the Relief Pharmacist program schedule.

Required profile

• Pharmacist licence (additional prescribing authorization preferred for Alberta).
• Minimum age of 16 years.
• Ability to work flexible schedules and travel between store locations.
• Commitment to maintaining patient confidentiality and regulatory compliance.

Required skills

• Proficiency with pharmacy registers and computer systems.
• Knowledge of standard operating procedures and pharmacy workflow models.
• Ability to counsel patients on pharmaceutical products and services.
