Registered Practical Nurse – Operating Room (Temp Full-Time)

About the role

One temporary full‑time Registered Practical Nurse (RPN) position is available in the Operating Room at Groves Memorial Community Hospital. The role is unionized with UNIFOR Local 1106 and supports a variety of surgical and endoscopy services.

Key responsibilities

• Provide nursing care in the Operating Room, PACU, Endoscopy and Day Surgery areas, following the schedule of Monday‑Friday as required.
• Participate in a monthly rotation of standby and on‑call duties, responding to callbacks within the specified timeframe.

Required profile

• Current registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario (CNO).
• Current BCLS certification.
• Successful completion of an accredited Operating Room course or certification.
• Minimum two years of experience in an Operating Room, Day Surgery or Endoscopy setting.
• Willingness and ability to take on on‑call and standby shifts as scheduled.
• Ability to obtain an IV Therapy course (or already within scope).
• Cardiac monitoring / basic cardiac arrhythmia knowledge or willingness to obtain within three months.
• Demonstrated physical assessment skills and lifelong learning attitude.
• Strong communication, organizational and interpersonal abilities.
• Ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team.
• Clear background checks, including Police Vulnerable Sector Check and pre‑employment health assessment.

Required skills
