Registered Practical Nurse – Operating Room (Casual)

About the role

Two casual Registered Practical Nurse positions are available in the Operating Room at Groves Memorial Community Hospital in Fergus, Ontario. The role involves providing nursing care in the operating theatre, day surgery, endoscopy and post‑anesthesia care units while supporting on‑call and standby schedules.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver patient care in the Operating Room, Day Surgery, Endoscopy and PACU as required.
• Respond to on‑call and standby shifts, meeting specified response times.
• Perform IV therapy, cardiac monitoring and physical assessments in accordance with protocols.
• Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to ensure safe and efficient surgical procedures.
• Maintain accurate documentation and adhere to infection‑control and safety standards.

Required profile

• Current registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario (CNO).
• BCLS certification.
• Completion of an accredited Operating Room course/certification.
• Minimum two years experience in Operating Room, Day Surgery or Endoscopy.
• Availability for call/standby shifts and ability to meet callback requirements.
• Willingness to obtain Cardiac Monitoring certification within three months if not already held.
• Successful reference checks, police vulnerable sector check and pre‑employment health assessment.
