Registered Nurse – Medicine (Temporary Part‑Time)

About the role

We are seeking a temporary part‑time Registered Nurse to join the Medicine department at Groves Memorial Community Hospital in Fergus. The role involves delivering high‑quality patient care and supporting the unit as a charge nurse across all shifts.

Key responsibilities

• Provide direct nursing care to medical patients, including palliative care.
• Administer IV medications and perform IV therapy.
• Operate defibrillation and cardiac pacing equipment.
• Supervise and act as charge nurse during assigned shifts.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary team to assess and document patient status.
• Maintain compliance with hospital policies and shift schedules, including weekends.

Required profile

• Current College of Nurses certificate of competence.
• Current BCLS and ACLS certification (or commitment to obtain).
• Certification to start IVs and give IV medications (or commitment to obtain).
• Defibrillation and cardiac pacing certification.
• Coronary Care Course or equivalent.
• Recent experience in medical nursing, including palliative care.
• Strong assessment skills and ability to serve as charge nurse.
• Successful reference checks, police vulnerable sector check, and pre‑employment health assessment.

Required skills

• IV therapy administration.
• Defibrillation and cardiac pacing.
• BCLS and ACLS.
• Coronary care procedures.
• CVADS (central venous access devices) handling (preferred).
• 12‑lead ECG interpretation (preferred).
