Registered Nurse – General Surgical (4S)

About the role

The Winnipeg Regional Health Authority is seeking a Registered Nurse to join the General Surgical (4S) unit at Grace Hospital. This fixed‑term position provides coverage for a maternity leave and offers the opportunity to work with patients who have complex and unpredictable health needs.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver independent nursing care and administer prescribed medical treatments.
• Lead and coordinate the healthcare team to ensure safe, high‑quality patient care.
• Facilitate patient discharge planning and continuity of care.
• Maintain accurate documentation and adhere to unit policies, procedures, and protocols.
• Participate in quality improvement initiatives and uphold the region’s vision and values.

Required profile

• Graduate of an approved Registered Nursing program.
• Current surgical experience preferred.
• Valid registration with the College of Registered Nurses of Manitoba (CRNM) and up‑to‑date CPR certification.
• Satisfactory employment record.
• Active participation in professional nursing associations is an asset.

Required skills

• Knowledge of Manitoba RN Standards of Practice and the Canadian Nurses Association Code of Ethics.
• Understanding of the Regulated Health Professions Act, PHIA, and other relevant legislation.
• Familiarity with unit-specific policies, procedures, and protocols.
• Effective oral and written communication.
