Registered Nurse – Critical Care (CCU)

About the role

The Registered Nurse will join the Cardiac Care Unit (CCU) at Windsor Regional Hospital, delivering safe, effective, patient‑focused nursing care. Working closely with patients, families and the multidisciplinary team, you will assess, monitor and develop care plans for critically ill cardiac patients.

Key responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care, including assessment, monitoring and evaluation of health status.
• Manage mechanical ventilation, central lines, hemodynamic monitoring, temporary pacing and inotropic/vasopressor medications.
• Develop and implement individualized care plans in collaboration with patients, families and the care team.
• Participate in unit and hospital‑wide quality improvement initiatives.
• Maintain compliance with Occupational Health and Safety standards and promote a safe work environment.
• Engage in ongoing professional development for yourself and colleagues.

Required profile

• Recent (within 2 years) critical‑care experience in ICU, CCU or Cath Lab, or recent PACU/Emergency experience with ventilated patients.
• Availability to work all shifts as required.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with patients, physicians, staff and visitors.
• Commitment to professional development and process improvement.
• Ability to communicate in French is an asset.

Required skills

• Current Certificate of Competence from the College of Nurses of Ontario.
• Basic Rescuer (C) certification (Heart and Stroke Foundation of Ontario).
• CNA certification in cardiovascular nursing (preferred).
• Completion of Windsor Regional Hospital Critical Care Orientation program within 3 months of hire.
• Current ACLS certification (preferred).
