Registered Nurse – Community Mental Health (Full‑Time)

About the role

Provide primary‑care nursing services to marginalized clients with severe and persistent mental illness in a community‑based setting at the Mission United hub. The role involves comprehensive mental‑health assessments, care planning, and collaboration with an inter‑professional team.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct triage, comprehensive mental‑health, and holistic assessments covering medical, psychiatric, and social domains.
• Develop individualized nursing care plans, educate clients on medication, and apply harm‑reduction approaches.
• Perform venepuncture, wound care, and administer medications (including IM routes) while maintaining accurate documentation.
• Facilitate access to addiction services, coordinate end‑of‑life care, and respond to emergencies as part of the Emergency Response Team.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary team to manage complex cases, update policies, and share evidence‑based practices.

Required profile

• Registered Nursing diploma or degree with minimum two years of mental‑health experience.
• Member of the Ontario College of Nurses and the Registered Nurses’ Association of Ontario.
• Knowledge of the Mental Health Act, Health Care Consent Act, and psychotropic medications.
• Strong communication skills, ability to work independently and in a team, and valid Ontario driver’s licence.

Required skills

• Proficiency with MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, Outlook).
• Venepuncture and wound‑care techniques.
• Medication administration, including intramuscular injections.
• Current CPR and First Aid certification.
