Registered Nurse – Cadet Camp Whitehorse (Summer)

About the role

This is a short‑term, summer‑only position for a Registered Nurse at Cadet Camp Whitehorse. You will provide primary‑care and urgent‑care services to cadets, instructors and on‑site civilians during the camp season (June – August).

Key responsibilities

• Deliver first‑aid and urgent‑care treatment on an 8‑ or 12‑hour shift schedule, including weekends.
• Conduct patient history, physical assessments, screening and selected diagnostic/therapeutic interventions.
• Provide counselling on preventive health, refer complex cases to senior medical staff, and ensure proper follow‑up.
• Administer OTC medication and document all care in the patient’s medical file.
• Assist physicians, physician assistants or nurse practitioners during clinic hours.
• Review cadet intake forms, collect and log prescribed medications, and brief responsible officers on dosage and side‑effects.
• Promote hygiene, safety and disease‑prevention among camp members.
• Perform administrative duties such as answering phones and maintaining clinic records.

Required profile

• Current registration as a Registered Nurse in the relevant Canadian province/territory.
• Ability to work 8‑ or 12‑hour shifts, including evenings and weekends.
• Experience in primary‑care, urgent‑care or community health settings.
• Willingness to work in a remote camp environment and adhere to military‑style policies and procedures.
