Registered Nurse – 2J Cardiovascular Unit (Full Time)

About the role

The 2J Cardiovascular Unit at Mississauga Hospital is seeking a full‑time Registered Nurse to provide post‑operative care for cardiac and vascular surgery patients. You will join an interdisciplinary team delivering high‑quality, patient‑centered care on a 36‑bed unit.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver comprehensive nursing care to cardiac and vascular surgery patients across 12‑hour shifts, including nights, weekends and holidays.
• Collaborate with physicians, therapists and support staff to develop and implement individualized care plans.
• Act as a practitioner, consultant and educator for patients, families and health‑team members.
• Ensure nursing practice aligns with College of Nurses of Ontario standards and THP Best Practices Protocols.
• Document assessments, interventions and discharge education accurately and timely.

Required profile

• Registered in good standing with the College of Nurses of Ontario (or eligible for temporary/general class registration).
• Experience in cardiovascular surgery nursing (required or strong asset).
• Completion of a Coronary Care 1 course (or commitment to complete within six months).
• Successful completion of a Cardiac/ECG rhythm interpretation course.
• Patient physical assessment course preferred.
• Strong decision‑making, problem‑solving and organizational abilities.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.
• Reliability, flexibility and a positive attendance record.
