Property and Facilities Manager - Brightwood Ranch

About the role

Brightwood Ranch, a Hope Mission site, is looking for a Property and Facilities Manager. The role is primarily hands-on, keeping the ranch safe, functional and presentable for summer camps, rental groups and other ministry activities. About 75% of the work is practical maintenance, repairs, groundskeeping, snow and ice control, equipment operation, inspections and projects; about 25% covers planning, recordkeeping, purchasing, contractor coordination and preventative maintenance. Hours are 8:00am to 4:00pm, with seasonal flexibility, and the position reports to the Camp Director.

Key responsibilities

• Complete routine repairs and preventative maintenance on buildings, cabins, washrooms, kitchens, offices and staff housing.
• Inspect, troubleshoot and maintain property systems such as plumbing, water, wastewater, heating, ventilation, basic electrical components and fire and life-safety equipment.
• Operate and maintain tractors, skid steers, utility vehicles, lawn equipment, snow-removal equipment, lifts and trailers.
• Clear snow and ice on roads, parking areas, walkways and emergency-access routes, including outside regular hours when needed.
• Maintain grounds through mowing, trimming, brush control, tree and trail maintenance, cleanup and seasonal preparation.
• Do minor carpentry, painting, drywall, hardware, fixture and general building repairs.
• Prepare facilities, grounds and equipment for summer camp, rentals, special events, seasonal shutdowns and reopening.
• Respond promptly to maintenance emergencies and protect people and property.
• Take part in renovation, capital and site-improvement projects.
• Develop and maintain maintenance schedules, inspection records, work orders and service logs.
• Estimate costs, obtain quotes, order materials and coordinate contractors for specialized work.
• Track tools, equipment, keys, parts and supplies, and lead or coordinate seasonal employees and volunteers on approved work.

Required profile

• Demonstrated experience in facilities maintenance, property management, construction, farming, camp maintenance or a related hands-on field.
• Experience maintaining a camp, retreat centre, acreage, farm, institutional property or multi-building site is preferred.
• Fluent English in speaking, writing and reading.
• Legally entitled to work in Canada on a full-time basis, able to provide a criminal record check and vulnerable sector search.
• Agrees with and signs the Hope Mission Statement of Faith, as the organization is Christian.

Required skills

• Class 5 driver's license with a satisfactory record, and willingness to learn to drive a cube truck.
• Physical ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs and work outdoors in varying weather.
• Comfort using email, calendars, spreadsheets and basic maintenance or work-order systems.
• Strong organization, recordkeeping and ability to manage competing priorities.
