Project Engineer

About the role

CB&I, which delivers storage and asset-management solutions through its Storage Solutions and Asset Solutions business units, is hiring a Project Engineer in Calgary. The engineer is an individual contributor who manages all or part of the engineering scope of a project, including the execution of engineering deliverables, and gives leadership and instruction to the engineering and design discipline leads. The role reports to the Manager of Engineering and works closely with clients and functions such as project management, procurement, subcontracting and estimating.

Key responsibilities

• Provide direction and coordinate the engineering and design discipline leads on an assigned project.
• Lead the execution of engineering deliverables, including the engineering schedule, budget, document controls and manpower staffing.
• Set up project procedures so deliverables meet client and engineering requirements.
• Ensure effective communication among engineering disciplines and review work with the client, management and functional leads.
• Identify problems and manage changes proactively.
• Maintain a focus on the end product, whether engineering, fabrication or construction.
• May be assigned as the Project Engineering Manager for a project.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Civil, Structural or Mechanical Engineering.
• Professional engineering licence in at least one province preferred.
• 3+ years of project engineering experience on large industrial projects; 3-5+ years in a discipline.
• Experience with storage tanks and/or pressure vessels and familiarity with their design codes (API 650, API 620, ASME Section VIII Div 1/Div 2).
• Strong written and oral communication skills; French is an asset.
