Project Manager – Marine Projects

About the role

Ontario Shipyards is seeking a Project Manager to lead complex marine projects at its St. Catharines facility. The role involves hands‑on oversight of ships, shops and dry‑dock activities, turning technical scopes into clear, on‑time deliverables while managing project financials and safety.

Key responsibilities

• Define project scope with the Tendering Department and create detailed schedules and man‑loading plans using Primavera P6.
• Assign, prioritize and supervise tasks, set milestones, manage resources and control costs.
• Track project performance with appropriate KPIs and provide weekly status reports to the Lead Deputy Project Manager.
• Identify, prevent and mitigate risks; manage change orders and communicate them back to the Tendering Department.
• Ensure all deliverables meet strict quality standards and produce comprehensive documentation, including pictorial and inspection reports.
• Manage client communications, organize and lead meetings, and maintain overall customer satisfaction.
• Collaborate with supervisors and skilled trades, provide technical guidance and drive continuous‑improvement practices.
• Support the Purchasing Department with material procurement and perform any other relevant duties as required.

Required profile

• Proven experience planning, executing, monitoring and closing complex projects, preferably in a marine or industrial environment.
• Willingness and ability to work onsite daily, walking ships, shops and dry docks to verify progress.
• Strong organizational, communication and stakeholder‑management skills.
• Experience managing project budgets, resources and risk mitigation.
• Commitment to delivering high‑quality outcomes and adhering to safety standards.
