Project Development Officer

About the role

The Project Development Officer will design and develop project concepts that align with partner priorities and meet funder requirements. Working closely with all departments, the officer will drive program growth, ensure compliance, and support in‑country teams in building partnerships.

Key responsibilities

• Research, develop and write concept notes, proposals and project designs for donors and partners.
• Identify and monitor program and donor compliance requirements and new funding opportunities.
• Collaborate with internal departments to create sustainable economic development and women’s empowerment concepts.
• Prepare project summaries, presentations and briefing notes for donors and senior management.
• Maintain proposal standards, templates and compliance databases.
• Support in‑country teams during consultations and validation of project designs.
• Keep the program development management system up‑to‑date, including donor mapping.
• Provide research support for communications, marketing, engagement, recruitment and fundraising activities.

Required profile

• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to build productive relationships across diverse stakeholder groups.
• Experience working in a matrixed, collaborative environment.
• Attention to detail and ability to ensure funder compliance.
• Flexibility to work from Ontario, Quebec, British Columbia or the Northwest Territories, with a hybrid schedule for GTA candidates.
