Program Leader – Recreation

About the role

BGC Okanagan is hiring casual Program Leaders to support its Recreation Programs for children, youth, and families at the Martin Avenue and Rutland locations in Kelowna, BC. Key responsibilities

• Plan and implement recreational, social, and educational activities for the assigned program.
• Work collaboratively with Activity Leaders to deliver the program and encourage member participation.
• Oversee day‑to‑day operations, ensuring facilities, equipment, guidelines, policies, standards and licensing requirements are met.
• Make recommendations to supervisors on program development, policy formulation, and evaluation.
• Promote public awareness by creating promotional materials and attending community events.
• Liaise with community service providers and professionals to coordinate services and represent the program externally.
• Maintain records, statistics and produce required reports.

Required profile

• A diploma, certificate or relevant experience working with children/youth in recreation, education or social services.
• Completion of at least 20 hours of coursework covering child development, guidance, health and safety or nutrition for licensed programs.
• One year of recent related experience.
• Class 5 driver’s licence with willingness to obtain Class 4.
• First Aid certificate and Food Safe certification or willingness to obtain them.
• Successful completion of agency screening, including a criminal record check.
