Postdoctoral Research Fellow in Neuroimaging Genomics and Epigenetics

About the role

The Department of Psychiatry at the University of British Columbia seeks a Postdoctoral Research Fellow with expertise in human brain imaging and genomics. The appointment is for an initial two‑year term, with possible extension based on performance and funding, and will be supervised by Prof. Sophia Frangou.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and implement analyses linking genomic and epigenomic variation to individual differences in brain structure and function.
• Analyze multimodal MRI data (structural, diffusion, functional) together with genomic and epigenomic measures.
• Investigate epigenetic processes across development, ageing, and neuropsychiatric disorder heterogeneity.
• Apply rigorous statistical, computational, and multivariate methods to large, complex datasets, ensuring reproducibility and validation.
• Lead manuscript preparation, scientific presentations, and contribute to grant development.
• Collaborate with investigators and trainees across neuroscience, psychiatry, genetics, and data science.
• Mentor team members and facilitate knowledge exchange where appropriate.

Required profile

• PhD (or equivalent) completed by start date in neuroscience, genetics, genomics, bioinformatics, biomedical engineering, computational biology, psychology, epidemiology or a closely related discipline.
• Demonstrated expertise in analysis of neuroimaging and genomic/epigenomic data.
