Research Assistant Technician – Clinical Breast Cancer Study

About the role

We are seeking a motivated and highly organized Research Assistant to support clinical research aimed at improving health‑care delivery for breast cancer patients undergoing reconstruction. The role involves collaborating with plastic surgeons, clinicians, researchers and patient partners within the Isaac Research Lab at UBC’s Faculty of Medicine.

Key responsibilities

• Assist in the development, coordination and implementation of clinical research studies on breast cancer and breast reconstruction.
• Conduct medical chart reviews and extract clinical, demographic and outcome data from electronic medical records.
• Maintain research databases, perform data entry, cleaning and quality‑assurance tasks.
• Support participant recruitment, patient surveys, interviews and other patient‑reported outcome data collection.
• Contribute to literature reviews, data analysis, and preparation of abstracts, manuscripts and grant applications.

Required profile

• Undergraduate degree (completed or in progress) in health sciences, life sciences, public health, epidemiology, psychology or related field.
• Strong organizational skills, attention to detail and ability to handle confidential patient information.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills and ability to work both independently and within a multidisciplinary team.

Required skills

• Proficiency with Microsoft Word.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Excel.
• Experience with REDCap or similar research database platforms.
