Postdoctoral Fellowship – Technology, Law & Society

About the role

The Peter A. Allard School of Law at the University of British Columbia invites early‑career scholars to join a two‑year, fully funded postdoctoral fellowship focused on the intersection of technology, law and society. The fellow will develop an independent research agenda that advances knowledge on topics such as artificial intelligence, privacy, cybersecurity, platform regulation, digital rights and emerging technologies.

Key responsibilities

• Design and conduct original research projects aligned with the fellowship’s thematic focus.
• Publish scholarly articles, working papers, or policy briefs in reputable outlets.
• Engage with faculty, graduate students, and external partners through seminars, workshops, or conferences.
• Potentially teach a course or seminar, contributing to the law school’s curriculum.

Required profile

• JD, LLB, or equivalent law degree.
• Completed or substantially completed doctoral degree in law or a related discipline within the past five years.
• Strong early‑career academic record, including peer‑reviewed publications.
• Demonstrated ability to develop an ambitious, interdisciplinary research agenda.
