About the role
The University of British Columbia is seeking a dedicated Pool Operator to manage daily operations and maintenance of the Aquatic Centre. Working under the Facilities Manager, you will ensure safe, clean, and well‑functioning pool environments for students, athletes, and the broader community.
Key responsibilities
- Perform routine maintenance of pool equipment, including filters, pumps, and lighting.
- Handle pool water chemistry, chemical storage, and dosing to maintain water quality standards.
- Conduct minor repairs, emergency response, and coordinate with trades for larger repairs.
- Maintain custodial standards in washrooms, change rooms, hallways, and all public areas.
- Set up and convert facilities for special events, classes, or competitions.
- Provide courteous customer service to pool users and respond to service requests promptly.
Required profile
- Ability to work flexible shifts (morning, mid‑day, evening, weekends) based on operational needs.
- Strong attention to safety, sustainability, and cleanliness standards.
- Good communication skills for interacting with staff, guests, and external service partners.
- Experience in a similar pool or facility maintenance role is preferred.
