Plant Terminal Operator Technician

About the role

SGS is seeking a Plant Terminal Operator Technician to work on a rotating schedule that includes day and night shifts. The role involves handling the loading and unloading of rail cars and trucks, washing and inspecting transport equipment, and supporting marine operations where applicable.

Key responsibilities

• Load and unload rail cars, trucks, or other transport modes, connect/disconnect equipment, and complete required documentation.
• Wash, inspect, and repair transport items, operate washing and drying equipment, and record status.
• For sites with marine operations, moor and unmoor vessels and connect/disconnect cargo hoses.
• Coordinate site operations to ensure equipment reliability, supply delivery, security, and environmental controls.
• Respond to in‑plant emergencies using mobile firefighting equipment under the direction of the Site Emergency Response Leader.
• Follow all procedures, checklists, and regulations during loading activities, including weight verification, visual inspections, and proper securing of loads.

Required profile

• Willingness to work rotating day and night shifts.
• Ability to follow strict safety, regulatory, and procedural guidelines.
• Capability to operate loading, washing, marine mooring, and firefighting equipment safely.
• Attention to detail for inspections, documentation, and emergency response.

Required skills

• Operation of loading equipment (load arms, hoses, ground straps).
• Operation of washing and drying equipment.
• Marine mooring and cargo hose connection skills (where applicable).
• Use of mobile firefighting equipment for emergency response.
