Physics Teaching Assistant – Fall 2026

About the role

The Department of Physics at McGill University is seeking 111 graduate students to serve as Physics Teaching Assistants for the Fall 2026 term. This fixed‑term position runs from 31 August to 11 December and involves 90 hours of instructional support across a wide range of undergraduate physics courses.

Key responsibilities

• Grading assignments, exams, and lab reports.
• Invigilating examinations and supervising laboratory sessions.
• Facilitating tutorials, labs, and office‑hour consultations.
• Providing peer‑collaboration support and responding to student inquiries via email and the MyCourses platform.
• Updating course materials and assisting with scheduling and logistics.

Required profile

• Current registration in a graduate program at McGill University.
• Prior undergraduate or graduate study in the subject matter of the assigned course.
• Demonstrated teaching ability and strong communication skills.
• Preference given to students enrolled in a graduate program in Physics.

Required skills

• Proficiency with the MyCourses learning‑management system.
• Experience in grading and providing constructive feedback.
• Ability to conduct laboratory demonstrations and supervise equipment.
