Pharmacy Operations Support – Specialty Pharmacy

About the role
This position supports the day‑to‑day operations of specialty pharmacy services in Canada, ensuring patients receive accurate, timely, and compliant care solutions. You will collaborate with healthcare professionals, payers, distribution teams, and customer service partners to maintain seamless operations.
Key responsibilities
- Lead daily specialty pharmacy operations, including intake processes, benefits investigations, prior authorizations, financial assistance coordination, and order management.
- Assign tasks, coach team members, monitor performance, and enforce operational policies and procedures.
- Track key performance indicators such as turnaround times, claim success rates, dispensing accuracy, shipment timelines, and inventory accuracy.
- Identify workflow barriers, resolve operational challenges, and escalate complex issues when required.
- Coordinate with pharmacists, prescribers, payers, distribution teams, and customer service groups to ensure compliant and timely fulfillment.
- Maintain standard operating procedures, quality controls, and documentation to support accreditation, privacy, safety, and regulatory requirements.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives by updating training materials, refining processes, and validating enhancements.
- Oversee specialty inventory management, including temperature‑sensitive and controlled product reconciliation, cycle counts, and discrepancy resolution.
Required profile
- Bachelor’s degree in healthcare administration, pharmacy operations, business or a related discipline, or equivalent professional experience.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in pharmacy operations or a similar healthcare service environment.
- Strong organizational and leadership abilities with a focus on compliance and quality.
Required skills
- Knowledge of specialty pharmacy workflows (intake, benefits coordination, prior authorizations, order fulfillment).
- Familiarity with regulatory and accreditation standards for pharmacy services.
- Experience monitoring and reporting key performance indicators such as turnaround time, claim success rates, and inventory accuracy.
