Pharmacy Assistant

About the role

We are seeking a Pharmacy Assistant to support daily operations within Prairie Mountain Health. The role involves processing prescriptions, managing medication inventory, and providing technical assistance to the pharmacy team.

Key responsibilities

• Enter patient information into the pharmacy system for profile updates, label generation and billing.
• Generate and review patient‑specific and non‑patient‑specific reports, including inventory and narcotic reports.
• Sort, process and return medications, recording credits and discarding expired items as required.
• Perform intermediate checks on prepared medications for accuracy and ensure proper labeling.
• Inspect medication storage areas for correct storage conditions, cleanliness and expiry dates.
• Deliver medications to nursing units and assist with inpatient dispensing.
• Train new pharmacy assistants and provide technical support for stock‑flow control.
• Handle cytotoxic and biological products, order stationary supplies and monitor medication expiry.

Required profile

• Completion of a recognized Pharmacy Assistant program.
• Ability to obtain and maintain pharmacy technician or assistant verification in Manitoba.
• Class 5 driver’s licence and personal vehicle for service within the health region.
• Strong written and oral communication skills.
• Ability to prioritize tasks in a changing environment and exercise independent judgment.
