Pharmacy Assistant

About the role

Working under the direct supervision of a licensed pharmacist, the Pharmacy Assistant supports daily pharmacy operations. The role involves processing prescription refills, handling third‑party billing, preparing medications for review, and coordinating patient delivery schedules.

Key responsibilities

• Enter prescription data, track drug lot numbers and expiry dates.
• Assist with entering and adjudicating prescriptions using the Kroll software.
• Communicate with patients to schedule repeat deliveries and resolve insurance billing issues.
• Prepare and label medications, document lot and expiry information, and assemble compounding sheets.
• Maintain accurate inventory levels, perform stock rotation, and conduct physical inventories.
• Store, receive, and order medications and supplies according to pharmacy policies.
• Maintain pharmacy records, file prescriptions, and document dispensing activities.
• Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders, including patient support programs and clinic staff.

Required profile

• Certificate or diploma in Pharmacy Assistance (preferred).
• Ability to follow federal, provincial and local regulations.
• Strong attention to detail for medication preparation and record‑keeping.
• Effective communication skills for interacting with patients and healthcare teams.
